WARRIOR DASH – This race is one of the biggest mud run obstacle course style races out there today. Started in 2009, Warrior Dash as grown drastically and improved leaps and bounds from an already genius idea! Tons of mud, fire and ridiculous things to get in between you and the finish line. Have I participated: Twice: 2010 […]

WARRIOR DASH – This race is one of the biggest mud run obstacle course style races out there today. Started in 2009, Warrior Dash as grown drastically and improved leaps and bounds from an already genius idea! Tons of mud, fire and ridiculous things to get in between you and the finish line.

Have I participated: Twice: 2010 in Atlanta, 2011 in Greensboro, NC. Plan to make this race an annual trip!

SWAG: One of the most creative races in this category. You get the standard medal, free beer ticket (bonus Pyramid Brewery concoctions not just run of the mill light beer), post-mud water and banana, but my personal favorite is the fuzzy warrior helmet!

Food: Make sure you bring your appetite because this post-race party includes premium beer courtesy of Pyramid Brewery, giant turkey legs, burgers, italian sausage, corn on the cob and more! Vegetarian options are available.

Competition: There is a clock posted and you are given time chips but rankings are posted in a giant inflatable viking helmet tent. The main emphasis here is having fun and getting through the course together.

Creativity: Many races with the same guidelines but since it was the first, you can say its the innovator of off the road, down and dirty obstacle course runs! Extremely costume friendly. Running in normal workout gear will make you stand out next to the ridiculous recycled Halloween costumes of your peers.

Muddiness: You will be filthy. Embrace it and wear clothes you are prepared to have covered in trophy mud stains!

Skill Level: Suitable for all levels. Obstacles can easily be bypassed if needed. Pretty impressive heights on some obstacles for those thrill seekers.

MudRunLove opinion: This race is the largest of its type for a reason. From start to finish, the people at Red Frog Events know what they are doing. Well-timed heats create energy and camaraderie at the start line, and well planned obstacles keep the course flowing without much wait time. The site gives good hints about obstacles you will encounter at your particular venue but never a play by play of what to expect so don’t plan your strategy around the posted battleground outline. Obstacles have improved and are becoming more breathtaking every year. The course is doable for all skill levels and can be modified if needed. With fun as a top priority, you should expect to dress in any sort of absurd get-up, which is a fantastic outlet to recycle Halloween costumes (bonus points if they don’t fit anymore). We dressed as members of the Nickelodeon game show Legends of the Hidden Temple which was a huge success. All in all whether you’re an experienced racers or a newbie, this race is packed full of fun!!
